Burford Priory

  • Earlier Houses: There was a 13th century Augustinian hospital on the site, elements of which were incorporated into the current house.

    House & Family History: In 1603 James I stayed for three nights at Burford Priory. Between 1949 and 2008 the House served as the home of a community of Church of England nuns and Anglican Benedictine monks. Since the early 21st century Burford has been the home of Elisabeth Murdoch, daughter of media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
