House & Family History: Coleton Fishacre is an Arts & Crafts style house with art deco interiors created for Rupert and Lady Dorothy D'Oyly Carte in the 1920s. Rupert's father, Richard, was the impresario who made the operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan a great financial success. The word Fishacre derives from Martin de Fishacre, who lived in this part of Devon in the 13th century.
