Crookhey Hall

  • Built / Designed For: Col. Charles Henry Bird

House & Family History: Col. Bird's father made a fortune in Massachusetts and settled in Liverpool, where he married a local woman. After his father's death the Colonel used part of the family's fortune to build the massive house we see today. Crookhey was the childhood home of the surrealist painter and novelist Leonora Carrington (1917-2011).
