Earlier Houses: The first house on the site, probably built in the early 19th century, was replaced by Webb's 1874 Arts & Crafts style house (one of the architect's largest). This second house was, in turn, demolished in 1930 to make way for the current (third) pink-washed International Style house.
Garden & Outbuildings: The Wilderness is a Grade II-listed house built in 1939 on the grounds of the Joldwynds Estate for Lord Greene.
