The house from a 1905 postcard
House & Family History: The famous socialite and writer Nancy Cunard (1896–1965) was born at Nevill Holt Hall in 1896. In 1919 Nevill Holt became a prep school, a purpose it served, in one guise or another, until 1998, when the school closed because of poor enrollment. In 2000 Nevill Holt was purchased by Carphone Warehouse co-founder David Ross, who restored the house and built a 350-seat theater in the 17th century stable courtyard. Between 2002 and 2012 the Nevill Holt theater was the home of an extension of the Grange Park Opera; since 2013 it has been the home of Nevill Holt Festival.
