St. Ives Mansion House (St. Ives Estate) (Harden Grange)

  • Earlier Houses: There was at least one earlier house on, or near, the site of the current house. Until the Dissolution of the Monasteries the estate was owned by the monks of Rievaulx Abbey. By the 16th century there was a house called Harden Grange on the site.

    House & Family History: In 1928 the Ferrand family sold the St. Ives Estate to Bingley Urban District Council (today Bradford Metropolitan District Council).

  • Garden & Outbuildings: The house is today set in a 500-acre park owned by Bradford Metropolitan District Council and operated as a public park.

  • House Listed: Grade II

  • Past Seat / Home of: SEATED AT EARLIER HOUSE: Walter Paslew, 16th century. Laycock family, 17th century. Milner family, 17th century. Ferrand, 17th century. SEATED AT CURRENT HOUSE: William Busfeild Ferrand, 19th century; Ferrand family here from 1636 until 1928.
